Poetry - Creating images, similes, figurative and expressive language.  Using actions and sound effects to enhance a poem’s meaning.

Narrative - Stories set in imaginary worlds.  Use of setting and characterisation.  Review structure and features of adventure stories.

Numeracy:

Counting and understanding numbers.  Knowing and using number facts and calculating order, partition and rounding 4-digit numbers and positive and negative numbers.

Mental methods of addition and subtraction of pairs of 2-digit numbers.  Written methods for 2 and 3-digit numbers.

Patterns, relationships and properties of numbers and shapes.  Developing knowledge of properties of polygons.

Science:

Keeping warm – temperature.

Science project – insulation.

History:

Tudors – Court life and town life.  Crime and punishment.  Comparisons of rich and poor.  Buildings, lifestyles, clothes and education.

Geography:

Village settlements.  Map reading, grids and symbols.

Technology:

Class 3 – Designing and making money containers.

Music:

Explore sound, colours and moods in music.

Create, perform and analyse expressive compositions.

Develop musical vocabulary.

P.E:

Invasion skills – netball and basketball.

Dance – formal dances.

Art:

Class 4 - Journeys: Investigating maps and representing a journey pictorially.

Important religious figures.

Homework:

Numeracy – Friday to be handed in the following Wednesday.

Spellings to learn and put into sentences in homework books.

Daily Reading – (Mon – Fri) minimum 10 mins. Recorded in Homework Diary.

Science Project – Insulation – due in Tuesday 26^th February.
