Waterproofs and shoes or wellingtons for dirt/mud needed as we are an all weather group. Check out the timetable to see what we will be doing!
NEWS UPDATE!! See below for details of the environmental club trip to Dinton Pastures on Tuesday 17th July 2007................
| Tuesday 24th April 2007 | We looked at the new school plans for the grounds outside which lots of people haven't seen yet. Then we planted some sunflower and nasturtium seeds in pots. The sunflower seeds are for the birds to enjoy in the autumn once the flower heads have turned to seed. We put the pots by the terrapin wall to catch the sun. When we emptied the pots they had ants' nests in them so we were able to watch the ants busily moving their eggs. After all this we topped up the bird table and feeders with food.

Tuesday 1st May 2007 | Birds Well, I think we all know the robin from the blackbird and the jay from the magpie when we hear them in the woods now. We had a look at a huge nest built by magpies in Mr Munson's garden and a very small robin's nest found when the fence was erected. We also know where there is a blue tit's nest - but that's a secret! Scott brought in some goose eggs for us to see which are in the entrance hall. You will be able to see our newly created species of birds next week when we have finished making them!
Tuesday 8th May 2007 | Gardens: It is time to improve the Daisy garden. We will tidy up and plant some flowering plants. You may like to bring your own trowel if it is named.
Tuesday 19th June 2007 | This week we each adopted an oak tree. We estimated the oldest to be 104 years old. The others are about 70 years old. Have you ever heard on oak tree? Try listening to its bark with a stethoscope! William bought in some 'butterfly' plants which he had grown from seed. These seedlings were planted in the Daisy garden. Hopefully we will attract lots of butterflies.
Tuesday 26th June 2007 | We shall find out more information about our tree and take its picture! The information will be put into small booklets which can be for the school's woodland trail. In addition we will practice tree identification and play 'smelly pots'! |
